Catch every idea the moment it strikes.
Speak it or type it. Spark saves and transcribes it right on your phone — and nothing leaves unless you choose to send it.
# speak it, type it — or whistle a melody
Capture
One tap from thought to saved.
Ideas don't wait. Spark opens straight into capture, so the gap between having a thought and keeping it is almost nothing.
Speak it
Tap and talk. Watch it transcribe live, on-device — then swipe to save.
Type it
In a meeting, on a loud train, or when a link is easier typed than said — tap the pencil and jot it. Voice or text, both are first-class sparks.
Hands-free
Finish with a word — say “thanks” to save, or “add” to keep going on your last spark. No screen, no taps.
Capture anywhere
The idea won't wait — so you shouldn't have to.
Start recording without even unlocking. Spark meets you wherever the thought lands.
Home-Screen widget
One tap from your Home Screen straight into a recording.
Lock Screen & Control Center
A control that starts capturing before you've even unlocked.
Record on open
Prefer instant? Spark can start recording the second it launches.
On your wrist
Spark comes to Apple Watch.
The purest capture there is: raise your wrist, tap, speak, done. A complication on your watch face launches you straight into recording. Each spark travels to your iPhone over the direct Watch-to-iPhone link — nothing leaves your devices — and is transcribed on-device there.
Private by design
Your ideas stay on your phone.
Transcription runs on-device with Apple's Speech framework — your audio never goes to us or to Apple to be transcribed. No account, no analytics, no tracking. Audio reaches disk as you speak, so even an interrupted recording survives. And a Confidential mode turns off sending entirely. Nothing leaves unless you send it, and you decide where.
Organize
A pile becomes a system.
Tag a spark while you're still talking, then find exactly what you need.
Idea, to-do, question, melody…
One-tap categories that travel with the spark into its notes file.
Stars for the ones that matter
Mark the keepers so the good ones rise.
Importance × urgency map
Set both, then tap a square to see just those sparks.
Speak your language
It understands you — in your words.
On-device transcription in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and more. Switch languages mid-recording, and it never phones home to do it.
Send
Your capture, your pipeline.
When you're ready, send a spark — audio plus a clean .yml notes file — to the channels you choose.
iCloud Drive
Lands in a “Spark” folder in Finder — ready for whatever you build on the desktop.
Fire a spark to your inbox or a teammate, attachment and all.
Spark API
Post to your own endpoint. An open, documented contract — Spark is just the first client.
Questions
The short answers.
Is my data really private?
Yes. Recordings, transcripts, and notes live only on your device. Transcription is on-device, there's no account, and nothing is sent anywhere unless you tap Send — to a destination you configured.
What will it cost?
Spark is free to use, with a generous core. A one-time Pro upgrade — never a subscription — is planned to unlock the power features.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Capture and transcription work fully offline. You only need a connection when you choose to send a spark somewhere.
Which languages does it understand?
On-device transcription covers English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and more, and you can switch language mid-recording.
Is it only for voice?
No — a spark can be spoken or typed. And a spoken spark doesn't need words at all; you can hum or whistle a melody and keep it as audio.
