Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 July 2026

Spark is designed to keep your ideas private. The short version: your data stays on your device unless you choose to send it.

What we collect: nothing personal

Spark does not require an account and does not collect, sell, or share your personal information. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.

Your recordings, transcripts, and notes

Audio you record, the transcripts Spark creates, and any text notes you type are stored only on your device. Speech recognition runs on-device using Apple's Speech framework — your audio is not sent to JazzIsNow or to Apple's servers for transcription.

Sending a spark

Spark only sends a spark off your device when you ask it to — by tapping Send, saying “send,” or turning on send-on-save — and only to destinations you configure in Settings:

In every case, the spark goes to the destination you chose. JazzIsNow does not receive your sparks. Where you send to Email or a Spark API endpoint, that data is handled by the third-party service or server you configured, under its own terms.

Saving to Files and sharing

If you save a spark to the Files app, the audio and a text (.yml) sidecar are written to a folder on your device (or your iCloud Drive, if you choose). Sharing uses the standard iOS share sheet. These files are under your control.

Privacy modes

Spark offers Standard, Private, and Confidential modes. In Confidential mode, sending and exporting are disabled and extra on-device protections apply — nothing leaves the device.

Announcements

When enabled, Spark occasionally retrieves a small announcements file from JazzIsNow (jazzisnow.com) to show app news. This request contains no personal data and no content from your recordings. As with any web request, our server may receive standard technical information such as your device's IP address; we do not use it to identify or track you. You can turn this off in Settings → Announcements.

Purchases and vouchers

Spark Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled by Apple; JazzIsNow never receives your payment details or identity. Redeeming a voucher code fetches a small list of valid codes from JazzIsNow and checks your code on your device — no personal data is sent.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data stays on your device, deleting the app removes your recordings, notes, and transcripts (except any files you exported to Files or iCloud Drive, or sparks you sent). You can delete individual sparks at any time within the app.

Children

Spark does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; changes will be posted at this page with a new “last updated” date.
